A Little Note for American Gangster

After spending my Saturday just in my house, I decided to watch movie. I currently wait for an Indonesian movie titled Ayat-Ayat Cinta (Love Verses) based on the same title book. Unfortunately, the movie had not been showed yet, so I chose to watch American Gangster (Initially, I watched it because I had no other good options)

American Gangster is basically about the illegal trade of drugs in US at the end of 60-es and during 70-es. It was the time when many government agencies i.e. Police, Military, Court, and even politician involved in drug trafficking. Frank Lucas (Denzel Washington)
appears as the heroin kingpin after his dealing with heroin plantation owner in Vietnam. His network with gangsters was broadening because his heroin product offered cheaper price with better quality compared with his other competitors. While, Richie Roberts (Russel Crowe) worked as anti bribing police officer who initiated a group of police officers to combat drugs trading in US. After a long investigation, Richie finally succeed to know Frank Lucas as the main actor of heroin trafficking in US and then sent him behind bars. Frank and Richie then collaborated to reveal Frank’s heroin trafficking network. This effort ended up as the biggest success for capturing drugs traders in US.
This movie is not merely emphasizing on drug trafficking. Some scenes also show personal sides of Frank, how the kingpin puts his family as his first priority. It is a must watch movie. Just imagine if Denzel Washington and Russel Crowe play in the same fram. Fabolous.
